to 17:12 The Doonies succeeded in jamming the Ba' on the steps
of the old Phoenix for some time, but eventually the Uppies
regained control. The Doonies tried to get into Firth's Square
and the next lane but only managed brief stops there. Before
17:00 the game had reached Mackieson's Corner (Uppie goal),
and there ensued a fierce contest for the eventual winner. Gordon
Mulraine emerged victorious from the scrum outside the Catholic
Kirk and by 17:12 it was all over.
